Your session is a relaxed, guided experience. It is very conversational. Paul is the consummate interviewer. We’ll start by getting to know you and reviewing your outfits. Then we ease you into the shoot with test shots and coaching. Throughout the session, Paul will guide you through a variety of looks and poses. From subtle and serious to fanciful and fun. Sessions are intentionally low on stress and high on engagement. Our clients are always remarking on how much they enjoyed the experience.

We don’t believe in rushing great results. There’s no strict time limit—we shoot until we’ve captured a variety of strong, confident images you love. Senior Sessions are about an hour. Family Sessions are often more than an hour. Extended Family Sessions typically run longer–up to 2.5 hours.

Yes, you can. High-school seniors change outfits all the time. Families, not so much.

Oh my goodness do we have a studio. It is spacious and magnificent, perfect for groups large and small. We can accommodate extended families of 15 - 20. The real wonderfulness of the studio, however, is that you never have to worry about weather or light. We have complete control of both. What’s more, we offer an impressive array of backgrounds and looks. Our lighting is polished and professional, both flattering and beautiful.

While our office is open Monday through Thursday 9-5, Friday 9-2. Some evenings and Saturdays are available by appointment only. Evening and Weekend sessions from May through October are considered Prime Time. They are very much in demand and get booked solid--especially for location sessions. Children grow up. We all get a little older. There is no time like the present to create a beautiful portrait. If you can get your family in the same zip code, or there is a date when they will all be in town, schedule now. Create the portrait you’ve always dreamed of. Every available evening of the summer gets booked—often months in advance, so too, with fall portraits. The two most popular times of the year for outdoor and location portraits are summer and fall. Families and high school seniors love the summer. The weather is great, the days are long, the beach is beautiful. The fall colors are also quite popular. The window of opportunity, however, is short, about 20 days, October 10-30. Since there are so few fall days and the weather is changeable, the dates go very quickly. Be sure to schedule early. That being said, we have, indoor portraits are popular year round. We have, I believe, the most beautiful and complete studio in the region, perfect for families, high school seniors, and headshots.

We recommend that you schedule a consultation. Either by phone or in person at our studio. It is a great opportunity for you to experience our portraits, visit our studio, and ask questions. We’ll look at samples, talk about clothing, location, style of portrait, product offerings, decorating with portraits, investment, and how to get the best results. We’ll answer all your questions. Besides that, we photograph friends better than strangers.

We do shoot on location and have been since 1995. In fact outdoor has been so popular, we built our own Portrait Park. Whether you have interested in the beach, your backyard, or our ever-popular Portrait Park, the outdoors are marvelous. And, yes, we do photograph indoors on location as well.

Every session is a little different. Most family sessions are an hour. Senior sessions are 1-2 hrs. Headshot/Beauty sessions are 30-90 min.

Families and high school seniors should schedule 1-2 months in advance (2-4 mos. over the summer). Professional headshots can often be scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance--depending on schedule. If hair and makeup is included, we recommend scheduling 4-6 weeks in advance.

Family & Senior Sessions start as little at $99. Small portraits start at $99. Wall portraits start at $699. Families and Seniors spend in the $750 to $3000 range. Some spend more. Headshots start as little as $199 and typically range from $200 to $1200.

Presentations are done at our studio in our Presentation room. See your images projected on the big screen. See your portraits sized to your walls. Order with confidence. We do not offer on-line galleries. Occassionally we offer Zoom-style presentations.

Our eleven-step reotuching is much loved and (almost) world famous. We take care of shine on the face, lines under the eyes, we enhance the eyes, brighten the teeth, smooth the skin, tuck, tweak, and slenderize. We also fix flaws in backgrounds. On group photos we often switch heads making sure that everyone looks great. We don't take it too far. You won't look fake or overly made up. Our goal is your best self on your best day.

Our clients love our custom-printed portraits. We are unusual in that we print most of our portraits in house. The quality is extraordinary. From our canvas, to satin, to fine-art metallic satin, we recommend finishing your portraits with us. That being said, some of our clients who have been offered the digital files choose to create announcements, greeting cards, small portraits etc. on their own.

We often share flattering portraits of clients online...some on our website, some on social media, and a few, occasionally, in advertising. We respect our clients' wishes. If you do not want any of your portraits shared with the public, please let us know. We gladly comply.

Hair and makeup is an optional upgrade for ladies. Our stylist does your hair & makeup at our studio--and is an expert on creating beautiful portrait-ready makeup. She is excellent working with a variety of skin types/tones. It is a joyful experience and worth the $175 upgrade. You are in hair & makeup a little over an hour then go right into your photo session.

Summer is our busiest time of the year. All sessions are best scheduled in advance. Family and senior on location are best scheduled 2 months in advance. Family and senior in studio or at our Portrait Park are best scheduled 1-2 months in advance. Headshots without hair & makeup are best scheduled 2-4 weeks in advance (3-6 wks with hair & makeup).

When you book a session, we ask a retainer fee to hold your date. The amount varies depending on the session.

We watch the weather and watch the weather. If the weather is not cooperating, we cancel and reschedule 1-2 hours before the session. The good news is: Your chances of favorable weather is 90% May through September (and 70% for October).

Payments for all digital products are due on order day. Payments for all other products are half-down on order day, and half at pickup. With our incentives, most of our clients pay in full on order day.

Color is a bit personal. What do your friends/family tell you that you look good in? As a general rule, bring extra outfits. Solid colors are often best. Darks, lights, neutrals, and a splash of color all work well. You're generally better off to dress up rather than down--depending on the message you would like to send. (And, avoid bold patterns and stripes as they often detract from your face.)

We’re excited too! Family and senior clients are invited back to the studio about a week after their session to review portraits. Headshot session presentations are either same-day or about a week later. Make sure all the decision makers come to the presentation.

For families and seniors, it takes about 5-6 weeks after the presentation to retouch, print, and frame your portraits. For headshots, digital portraits are emailed about 5-7 business days after the presentation.
